Photo transfer collage- her name is Elise

Hello again!:)
I finished this morning my first quilt made with  transfer photo on white cotton.

I liked this little cute girl very much and I wanted to see if I can place it into an art quilt.
I called her Elise :)
Respecting the rules of the mixed media course I tried to fit everything into a collage using vintage fabrics and accessories as well.

 Am terminat in dimineata aceasta primul meu qquilt realizat cu fototransfer pe panza alba.
Mi-a placut tare mult copila asta dragalasa si am vrut sa vad daca o pot incadra intr-un art quilt.
Respectand regulile de la cursul de mixed media am incercat sa incadrez totul intr-un colaj folosind materiale vintage si accesorii la fel.

I already had the fabrics  bought about a few months ago and it has got to match:) The combination of the slightly dusty colors  emphasizes the vintage character.

I had the opportunity to use doilies and lace that I have made last year and I was wondering what  should  I do with them:)
In addition I learned to do those famous yo yos which are super simple and super fast to do , without any special device.
The pink roses, pearl buttons and  colored pink buttons, the bow from Karina left:) complete the picture and give it that score feature.
Aveam materialele cumpare de cateva luni  si s-a nimerit sa mearga :) Combinatia de culori usor prafuita accentueaza caracterul vintage al tabloului.
Am avut ocazia sa folosesc mileurile si dantela pe care le facusem anul trecut si ma intrebam ce o sa fac cu ele :)
Pe langa acestea am invatat sa fac acele vestite yo yo care sunt super simplu si super repede de facut manual, fara nici un dispozitiv special.
Trandafirasii roz, nasturii de sidef cat si ei colorati ,fundita roz de la Karina ramasa :) intregesc tabloul si ii dau acea nota caracteristica .


Overall I like it; but the transfer is lighter but neither the original picture is  clear.

What do you think? Does it looks  vintage or should  I give up?:):)
Per ansamblu imi place; transferul e insa mai slab dar nici poza originala nu e foarte clara..
Ce ziceti? A iesit ceva vintage sau trebuie sa renunt?:))

Thumbelina doll- Degetica

In the strange saturday night, too hot for this time of year, I had the idea to work something small than ever. As I told you I like  small, meticulous things because they get me out of dreaminnes:)

In ciudata seara de sambata, mult prea calda pentru aceasta perioada a anului, mi-a venit ideea sa lucrez ceva mic, mic de tot. Va spuneam ca imi plac lucrurile mici, migaloase pentru ca ma "aduna" de pe unde ma risipesc cu gandurile:)
 
 
So I decided that I will make  a Thumbeline  that is the prototype of the smallest doll in the world (of many I know).

I started with the beginning:) creating designs, I didn`t want an already known pattern that`s way  I created my own. I don`t think it is most appropriate but it is mine and that's it:)
After I decided, about   the look of the doll, I began looking for the raw material for manufacturing it, of course with what I already had in the equipment .
And I stopped at the felt for the body , curly wool for hair, sequins and beads for embellishment and wooden ball for head  doll that I painted with acrylic paints.
ah! by the  way! ribbon of green organza for wings because Thumbeline has finally wings, right?:)
Asa ca am hotarat ca voi face o Degetica pentru ca e prototipul celei mai mici papusi din lume (din cate cunosc eu).
Am inceput cu inceputul :)crearea designului; nu am vrut un pattern deja stiut si l-am creat pe al meu propriu. Nu cred ca e cel mai nimerit dar e al meu si gata :)
Dupa ce am hotarat , vreo ora, cam cum va arata , in mare, am inceput sa caut materia prima pentru confectionarea ei; bineinteles cu ce aveam in dotare deja.
Si m-am oprit la fetru pentru corp, lana buclata pentru par, paiete si margele pentru embellishment si bile din lemn pentru cap, pe care am pictat fata papusii cu vopsele acrilice.
ah! sa nu uit! ribbon din organza verde pentru aripi caci Degetica are aripi in final , nu?:)

And I started working:)

That was the most creative and attractive work, as I move with its construction I was thinking  how to embellish it with beads or make hair style.. 
The hard part of the "birth" it was the part when I had to mount it; because it is  very small I didn`t know how and what  must be mount first to  make my job easier ...
 I managed to build one by learning from mistakes but I was a little disappointed initially.

Asta a fost partea cea mai creativa si mai atractiva a muncii; pe masura ce avansam cu constructia ei ma gandeam si cum sa o impodobesc cu margele sau cum sa ii arangez "parul"
Partea grea a "nasterii" ei a fost acea parte cand a trebuit sa o montez; dat fiind foarte mica nu stiam cum si ce sa montez mai intai ca sa imi usurez munca...
Si din greseli si reluari am reusit sa o construiesc dar am fost cam dezamagita initial .

And because it was alone and my appetite was stimulated I did another three twin sisters for my first doll because not be bored :)) 
And now I  have four pretty funny thumbeline , size only 3.5 "!

Si pentru ca era singurica si mi s-a deschis apetitul pentru migaleala i am mai facut inca trei surioare gemene sa nu se plictiseasca :))
Si iata cum am acum patru degetele dragalase si haioase , mici de numai 3,5 "!

I don`t know if you like them or not, but they amuse me and  it was a real pleasure to create them because  their process of creating was very relaxing ... for me:)
Nu stiu daca va plac sau nu dar pe mine ma amuza si in primul rand mi-a facut o reala placere sa le creez pentru ca procesul lor de creare e foarte relaxant...pentru mine:)

Baluba- african mask

A few months ago I started a project that I had  to abandon few days later because of the insufficient time that I have  in general.

The theme of a wallhanging is an  African mask and a few symbolic elements.
Four days ago I resumed it perhaps more inspired (some months ago I wanted to throw it) and that became :
Acum cateva luni in urma incepusem un proiect pe care l-am abandonat din cauza timpului insuficient pe care il am in general.

Subiectul in cauza era un wallhanging cu tema africana; o masca si cateva elemente simpbolice.
Acum 4 zile l-am reluat poate mai plina de inspiratie (acum cateva luni am vrut sa il arunc) si cam asta a devenit :

A collage in which I  used several techniques including  needle felting technique  (New technique for me absolutely fascinating!), couching and machine embroidery.

First the mask  and basic elements of collage was applied _I took me the most time because I wanted to use specific colors of African culture and had to think about their composition in collage and African symbolism, then embellish side - choice the seams, choise the felt symbols , the needle felting with that special tool that I bought it soon. I like very much the  needle felting! Pure colorful  wool can create incredible beautiful structures. :) But about needle felting soon.
Un colaj in care am folosit mai multe tehnici de lucru printre care needle felting-ul (tehnica noua pentru mine

dar absolut fascinanta!), couching-ul si broderia cu masina.

Intai a fost aplicata masca si elementele de baza ale colajului- mi-a luat cel mai mult timp pentru ca am vrut sa folosesc culorile specifice culturii africane si a trebuit sa gandesc compunerea lor in colaj cat si simbolistica africana, apoi partea de embellish - alegere de cusaturi, alegerea simbolurilor din fetru, needle feltingul cu acel instrument special pe care l-am achiziotionat curand . Tare mult imi place needle felting-ul! Din lana pura , colorata poti crea structuri nebanuit de frumoase. :) Dar despre needle felting in curand.

Finally everything was quilted watching basic elements, with free motion and echo quilting, trying  to not upload it with too many lines of quilting.

Four days in which  I worked mostly with Karina besides me - she  started to play by herself:)
I worked with a great pleasure because I combined several techniques, some new to me but they kept in "in socket" and  did not allowed me to get bored:)

In final totul a fost quiltuit urmarind elementele de baza , cu free motion si echo quilting, fara sa -l incarc insa cu prea multe linii de quilting.

Patru zile in care am lucrat intens, cu Karina pe langa mine care a inceput sa stie sa se joace si singurica :)

L-am lucrat cu o placere deosebita datorita faptului ca am imbinat mai multe tehnici, unele noi pentru mine dar care m-au tinut "in priza" si nu mi-au dat voie sa ma plictisesc:)

Pe curand si o zi buna tuturor!
